A Challenge To Young People

Thursday, October 21, 2010

I've got a challenge for all young people. You have an incredible opportunity at your fingertips to influence the culture of your generation. Instead of using Facebook, MySpace and Twitter for a forum for negativity and airing your frustration about your world, what if you used it to share truth and encouragement? Who knows, it might actually save a life or turn someone from a path of destruction. The news is full of stories of how social networking sites have been used by your generation to bully and intimidate, to spread hate and fear and have led some to suicide. Every time you update your status you are influencing someone. Why not be different and be that one person that leads someone towards life rather than death?

You don't have to be shaped by your culture and blindly follow it. Instead, YOU shape the culture around you. YOU set the bar. Don't be a follower because you are better than that. Be a leader. Show us something positive about your culture that we can be proud of and we will shout it from the rooftops. Prove to the world that people your age are not hopeless but are our hope for the future. Come on, I dare you!
