Principle vs. Conviction

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

You can't lead with conviction until you first live a life ruled by your convictions. Your life isn't shaped by how you lead, but rather, your leadership is shaped by how you live. Leadership based on principles isn't trustworthy because principles are based on what we think or how we feel. That changes often. Leadership based on conviction is trustworthy because convictions are based on truth, and truth doesn't change. We shape our principles, but conviction shapes us. This is leadership 101.
