You Get What You Ask For

Thursday, August 16, 2012

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 (New International Version)

you get what you ask forWhat have you been asking God for lately? What are you seeking from Him in your life? What doors are you knocking at today? If we were to be honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that often times we settle for so little in life. It is a fact that humans, left to themselves, will always take the path of least resistance. We all do it from time to time and usually unintentionally.

Jesus' words above challenge us to live above that. He wants us to know that there is so much more in store for us if we would only seek after it. We settle for so little. There are goals that we have never completed. There are dreams that have never been pursued, somehow hoping that they will one day come true.

Your Heavenly Father wants you to know that there is a dimension of daily life just waiting for you. He is ready to lay it out in front of you. But there is one catch. You have to want it. You have to go after it. If you seek it, you will find it. If you ask for it, He will give it to you. Whatever door you knock on will open up. It is up to you. He's waiting for you to take the first step. God's motivation is not that He wants us to do all the work, or that He's not willing reach out to us. No! He knows that to seek, ask and knock requires that we step out of where we are at and into what He has for us. If we truly want what He has for us, we won't find it in the limited dimension that we are currently living in. It can only be found by stepping into His dimension.

As you read these words I pray that your heart begins to leap inside of you and that a desire for more wells up in your spirit. I pray that today would begin the process of living in a whole new dimension. Stop settling for less than what God wants for you. Go ahead, ask Him. He's waiting. Watch this video of a song that so perfectly captures this truth. The name of it is "The More I Seek You" written by Zach Neese.

How true that we so often settle for less than what the Lord has for us, simply because we aren't passionate enough, committed enough--thank you for the exhortation to "provoke us" to pursuit of God daily.
