Just Walk Away

Moses at burning bush
One of my favorite stories in the bible is the story of Moses at the burning bush in Exodus 3. In this story God tells Moses to take off his shoes. I don't think God was confronting Moses about his unholiness before a holy God. I believe he was confronting him about his future. Moses' shoes represented a past he was running from, a present he was settling for, and a future he had forgotten. When Moses took his shoes off he was stepping out of what he was and stepping into what God had destined him to be.

For us, the challenge is threefold:

#1 - God is challenging us to step out of what we could have been.
It's time to walk away from the missed opportunities, the broken dreams, the past mistakes and failures and step into something much better. We can't let our past determine our present nor can we let it sabotage our future. We can't change the past but we can change where we go from there. Don't let your past determine your present identity.

#2 - God is challenging us to step out of what we have become.
Without realizing it we can settle for so much less than what God has designed for us. What we have become may not be bad but it might not be the best. It's time to walk away from status quo living and pursue more. Too often we let our past failures convince us that we are undeserving of a better future. That is simply not true. The bible is full of men and women who experienced tremendous failure yet went on to do great things for God. Don't settle for a "good enough" life. Don't settle for anything less than extraordinary. That is what God has in store for you if you will step away.

#3 - God is challenging us to step into what He has birthed us for.
He has a spectacular plan for you that involves so much more than what you can see or even imagine. It's time to step out of the ordinary and step into the supernatural life He has waiting for you. It takes a willingness to become dissatisfied with where you are and desperate for something bigger than you are. The sad reality is that most of us simply don't realize the reality of what God has destined us for. It doesn't make sense and it seems so impossible but if we will trust God, we will be amazed by what he has waiting for us. God is waiting for us to take two simple steps - step away from who we are and step into who he wants us to be.

Just Walk Away
When Moses walked away from the burning bush he was never the same again. No longer was his life on a path that was leading him farther away from his destiny, but he was now realizing his path of destiny and deliverance. What about you? Do you need to step out of some old shoes today? What is God calling you to step into? Go for it. The first step is the hardest, but once you take it you will never look back.
