Where's Your Hiding Place?

"You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance." Psalm 32:7

There is a reality show currently running on TV called Doomsday Preppers. This show follows actual families who have spent thousands of dollars building bunkers to protect them when the end of the world comes which they believe is eminent. The people showcased are a little wacko and extreme but they are on to something.

We all need a bunker, a hiding place, a place we can run to during times of trouble where we are safe. But any place we try to create on our own will not do the job. There is only one place we can run to during times of trouble that brings real safety, peace and protection. That place is only found in God. He needs to be that bunker we run to when we are scared and afraid. We have to resist the temptation to run to places or things that can only bring temporary security which merely numb us from fear. We can only find lasting protection in Him.

Where do you find yourself running to when trouble hits? Do you practice making God your hiding place everyday? That is how we can ensure that when calamity hits, we automatically run to him. It will be instinctive because that is our designated hiding place. Don't wait until your world starts falling apart to build your bunker because it will be too late. Start building it now and practice running there every day. His promise is that when we make Him our hiding place he will protect us from trouble and will surround us with songs of deliverance.
