Freedom Comes With A Price

Thursday, July 4, 2013

Freedom comes at a great price. The life that we enjoy as citizens of the United States of America was paid for by the blood of brave men and women who gave their lives fighting for the very freedom our Constitution  guarantees us. The day we stop teaching our children about the heroes that fought and died for their freedom is the day that we are headed for destruction. When we forget the price paid for freedom we stop valuing that freedom and eventually will stop fighting to sustain it. If a Hitler was to rise up today, would this present generation have the courage to stand up to him? Would it value freedom, not only for us but for the entire world, to take up arms against evil and fight? With freedom comes responsibility--the responsibility to ensure that we do all in our power to ensure that freedom is available to all who seek it.

The same applies to our freedom in Christ. We cannot ever forget the price He paid for us so that we could be eternally free. He paid too great a price for us to take it for granted. Our freedom becomes meaningless when we aren't compelled to tell others about the love of Christ and that He laid down His life for them so they wouldn't have to. The greatest honor we give to the cross is not by merely enjoying the benefits of our freedom, but by leading others to Christ so that they too can find freedom.

This 4th of July honor the sacrifice that our fellow Americans made by dying for our freedom by thanking a Veteran for his or her service. And don't forget to honor the sacrifice Christ made on the cross for us by telling someone that He laid His life down for them.
