How To Give The Perfect Christmas Gift

perfect gift
Men all around the world are desperately trying to figure out what to give their wives for Christmas this year. Christmas is not geared for men. We of the male persuasion are at a huge disadvantage because giving gifts requires shopping and men are not good at shopping. We spend 364 days a year avoiding shopping and suddenly find ourselves wandering the mall on a quest to find that one perfect gift which we are totally clueless as to what it is. Whatever you decide to get her, take my advice and do not give her any of the following:
  • Kitchen utensils of any kind (This tells her you wish she would cook more)
  • Appliances of any kind (This tells her you want her to do more around the house)
  • Cash (What are you, her Uncle?)
  • Lingerie (This is really a gift for yourself)
  • Anything that is part of a "buy-one-get-one-free" deal (This just says tacky!)
  • Bath soap (This says "I think you stink")
  • A gym membership (Really? Do I really need to explain this one?)
The key to giving the perfect gift to your wife is simple really. Just follow these simple principles and you will do fine:
  • Take plenty of time to find the right gift.
  • Splurge! Don't try to save money.
  • Don't give anything that will directly benefit you.
  • Give something that requires personal sacrifice.
  • Give something that honors her.
the gift that keeps on giving
This is how our Heavenly Father gives to us. When he gave us his son, Jesus, he gave the one thing that would cost him the most. He held nothing back and gave us the best he could give. He also gave to us with no expectation of receiving anything in return. In fact, he gave knowing many would reject that gift. This wasn't a one-time gift either. It is a gift that keeps on giving for all eternity. May we all strive to be like him as we give gifts this Christmas.

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
