Can We Really Belive God Is Good Enough?

In an earlier post, Why We Need the Holy Spirit, I made the statement that I don't serve a God who is "good enough." I serve a God who is "more than enough." God is not, never has been, nor ever will be a God who settles for just "good enough" for his children. We shouldn't either. Why should we ever settle for less than what he wants for us? The reality for all of us is that many times we do.

In John 10:10 Jesus said that he came so that we would have life, and have it more abundantly. What I love about God is that he goes all out and is always extravagant towards us. He doesn't just give us life, and not just the abundant life either. He gives us the more abundant life. That word literally means without measure. You can't put a number on it. Nothing can compare to it. It's way beyond our human comprehension. It's extravagant. It's also beyond what we deserve.

Does your life seem a little ordinary? Are you wondering if there is something more? Are you tired of  where the rhythm of your daily life is at? Then you may be settling for less than what God has for you. Maybe you are just content with "good enough." As long as we settle for just good enough we will never enjoy the abundant life and will have to settle for ordinary. The bad news is that God will give us what we are willing to settle for. If you want ordinary, unexciting and mundane, that is what he will give you. The good news is that if you aren't content with "good enough" then he won't settle for anything less than "more than enough" for you. It's up to you to decide what kind of life you want.

I suspect that if you have read this far, you don't want to settle for good enough any more and want the abundant life that Jesus talked about in John chapter 10. The first step begins with wanting it. The second step is deciding to not settle for anything less ever again. Once we begin to do that, God will begin to pour out a life that is without measure. And I have to tell you from experience that once you taste of the abundant life, you will never want to go back to anything less. This is why I named by blog "The Good Life." May you experience life more abundantly through Christ today!
